The company has dozens of its own brands – AmazonBasics, Solimo, Mama Bear, Presto!, 365, Mae, Essentials, 206 Collective and so on. These are super-cheap and very high-quality items (clothing, shoes, electronics and more) that can only be found on Amazon. The company simply takes the most successful products on its site, copies them and sells them 30-50% cheaper because it can afford it. And for customers – joy: even more good products at super-low prices.
For Americans, Amazon is synonymous with online shopping. If they want to buy something online – they take it here. Therefore, the platform is able to keep the lowest prices on the internet, and even provide free fast delivery of goods throughout the USA for almost all purchases. But how to order from Amazon to Russia? Let's figure it out!
Direct Shipping from Amazon
Amazon itself does not ship goods directly to other countries. It has separate divisions for that (Amazon.in in India, Amazon.co.uk in the UK, and so on). However, third-party sellers on the platform can ship products anywhere. Many of them offer this service to increase sales. Therefore, direct shipping from Amazon is quite possible.
But don't get too excited. There are a few catches:
The shipping carrier is chosen by the individual seller, not by you.
Shipping speed is not very fast, usually 2-4 weeks.
Since a single item is being shipped to Russia by the company, the shipping cost is not the lowest.
Each item in the cart is shipped separately (if you're not buying them from the same seller), which means you pay shipping for each one individually.
When shipping toys and inexpensive clothing, the delivery cost from Amazon can exceed the price of the item itself. Even 150-gram toys are shipped for at least $35-$45 (depending on the seller's location). And ordering multiple items at once in this way makes no sense at all — there's no added benefit.
Another example: Timberland boots weighing 4 pounds (1,8 кг). It doesn't seem like a particularly heavy item. How much does it cost to ship from Amazon to Russia? If shipped directly (the seller uses UPS) — at least $43.47. That's more than half the price of the item itself! It's almost three times more expensive than through Prostobox. However, there are some advantages. For example, Amazon recently made it easier to find items only from sellers who offer international shipping. The second option is, before buying an item on Amazon, check that the product page says on the right that it offers "shipping to select countries outside the US". There, in the top right, you can also click on the address and select Russia from the list of countries to confirm that the item can be shipped there. In that case, the text will say "this item ships to Russian Federation".
But if you want savings and speed, direct shipping from Amazon to Russia via individual sellers is not the way to go. You overpay significantly, and even if the seller ships your item the next day, you'll still have to wait several weeks for it in Russia, since it's usually not a priority destination.
At the same time, shipping within the US is almost always completely free. For all orders of $25 or more, for some cheaper items (selectively), and in any situation if you have a Prime subscription. Delivery is completed within 24 hours.
